Martial Arts Open School Project
As a community-based initiative, iSafe continuous to inspire safer communities for vulnerable people, particularly women, girls and youths through the various programs and activities that we offer, including martial arts education. In 2023, iSafe, an affiliate of Girls Inspired
Development Network in partnership with UNESCO ICM trained 105 girls from selected junior and senior secondary schools in Ajegunle, Lagos, Nigeria on martial arts in the Martial Arts Open School in Nigeria.
After completing the Martial Arts Open School project from June to August 2023 and as part of our
sustainability plan, iSafe has impacted over 100 young women and girls in martial arts education:
– Participation in African Women Martial Arts Leaders workshop in South Korea in 2023.
– Martial Arts education for young women to mark International Women’s Day 2024.
– Apost-assessment of the 2023 Martial Arts Open School and a reskilling to bring them up to
speed while commemorating Menstrual Hygiene Day 2024.
The overall goal is to promote the safety, resilience, confidence, and self-esteem of women and girls in vulnerable situations, through martial arts, advocacy and other life skills offered under the ProtectHer initiative
